Some milestones deserve a pause. This is one of them.

Dairylane, a premium dairy products brand, has reached Level 3 on Blinkit and its cream cheese is now available across 150+ Blinkit dark stores. For a chilled product with a real shelf life, in a category where the shopper decides in seconds, that is not a small thing. It means the platform is seeing steady demand, reliable supply and a brand that customers come back to.

At Brand Chanakya, we have been in Dairylane's corner through this journey. Here is the story of how it came together, what made it work, and what other food and FMCG brands can take from it.

The brand: premium dairy with a clean-label promise

Dairylane positions itself squarely in the premium dairy space. Its cream cheese is packed in a bright, easy-to-spot tub, carries a clear "No Preservatives" mark, and speaks directly to the home baker, the cheesecake lover and the family that wants a better spread on its morning toast. The playful "Oh, So Creamy!" seal on the pack does a lot of work in a crowded listing grid.

That is a strong product story. But a strong product alone does not win on quick commerce. On Blinkit, a brand is judged every single day on whether the product is in stock at the dark store nearest to the customer, whether it looks right on a phone screen, and whether it sells fast enough to earn its shelf space.

02

The challenge: chilled dairy in a 10-minute world

Quick commerce has changed how India buys groceries. Blinkit alone has been scaling aggressively, with a stated target of 3,000 dark stores by March 2027, up from 1,816 in September 2025. Every new dark store is a new neighbourhood a brand can reach. It is also a new shelf the brand has to keep filled.

For a product like cream cheese, the hurdles are specific:

  • Cold chain and shelf life. Chilled dairy cannot sit in a warehouse for weeks. Inventory has to move, and stock has to be planned tightly so that nothing expires on the shelf.
  • Limited dark store space. Each dark store carries only a few thousand SKUs. Blinkit favours products that turn over quickly, so slow movers lose space.
  • Impulse, not research. A shopper searching "cream cheese" is often baking today. The listing has to convince them in a single glance.
  • Competing with established names. Big dairy brands already own the shelf and the search results. A premium challenger has to earn its visibility.
  • A changed operating model. Since September 2025, Blinkit has run a fully inventory-based model where it buys stock from brands and acts as the seller. That makes consistent supply and purchase-order fulfilment even more central to growth.

The real question was never "Can we get listed?" It was "Can we stay in stock, stay visible and keep selling across more and more dark stores?"

03

Our approach: Brand Chanakya's quick commerce playbook

We treated Blinkit not as a listing exercise but as a retail business that happens to run on an app. Our work with Dairylane followed the same playbook we use for every quick commerce brand, tuned for a chilled category.

1Onboarding & compliance

Seller setup, brand approval and product-level approvals, with FSSAI and Legal Metrology details checked so that no SKU gets stuck in review.

2Catalogue that sells in a glance

Search-friendly titles, clean pack shots, usage imagery and clear callouts (premium, no preservatives, ideal for cheesecakes and spreads).

3SKU & pack-size focus

Starting with the hero SKU instead of the whole range, so velocity per dark store stays high and the brand earns space faster.

4Inventory & fill-rate discipline

Tracking purchase orders, fill rate and dark-store-level stock so the product is available when the customer searches for it.

5Performance marketing on Meta

Geo-targeted Facebook and Instagram campaigns aimed at home bakers, food lovers and young families in cities where Dairylane is live on Blinkit, with recipe-led creatives (cheesecakes, spreads, party snacks) that send shoppers straight to the Blinkit listing.

6Reporting & iteration

Regular reviews of sales, availability and ad performance, with quick changes to pricing, content and spends based on what the data showed.

Why the hero-SKU strategy matters

Many brands make the mistake of pushing their entire range onto Blinkit on day one. On a platform where shelf space is tight and every SKU is expected to sell multiple times a week per store, a long tail of slow movers drags the whole brand down. Leading with one strong, recognisable product gives the platform a clear signal: this brand sells. Expansion comes after.

Why availability beats everything

On quick commerce, an out-of-stock product is invisible. It does not matter how good the ad or the listing is if the nearest dark store has run out. Keeping a close eye on stock and supply is the unglamorous work that actually moves a brand up the ladder.

04

The result: Level 3 on Blinkit and 150+ dark stores

Dairylane is now at Level 3 on Blinkit, a step up that reflects consistent performance on the platform. Its cream cheese is available across 150+ dark stores, putting a premium, preservative-free product within minutes of thousands of households.

What changedWhy it matters for Dairylane
Higher brand level on BlinkitA signal of platform confidence in the brand's demand and supply reliability.
150+ dark storesMuch wider reach: more neighbourhoods, more search results, more chances to be the cream cheese in the cart.
A proven quick commerce modelA base the brand can now build on with more SKUs, more cities and bigger campaigns.

For us, this is exactly what quick commerce growth should look like: earned, not bought. Wider distribution that follows real, repeat demand.

05

Lessons for food, dairy and FMCG brands

If you are a food or FMCG brand eyeing Blinkit, Zepto or Instamart, here is what the Dairylane journey reinforces:

  • Lead with your hero. One product that sells well beats ten that sit on the shelf.
  • Plan supply before you plan ads. Ads on an out-of-stock product waste money and hurt your standing.
  • Design for the thumbnail. Your pack and listing images are your storefront. Make them readable on a small screen.
  • Sell the occasion. People buy cream cheese for a cheesecake, a sandwich, a party. Speak to the moment, not just the product.
  • Treat the platform like a partner. Consistent performance is what unlocks wider distribution and better visibility.
06

What's next for Dairylane

Level 3 is a milestone, not a finish line. With a proven hero product and a working quick commerce engine, the next chapters are about deepening presence in existing dark stores, extending into new cities as Blinkit expands, and bringing more of Dairylane's premium dairy range to customers who already trust the brand.

We are proud to be part of this journey, and even prouder of the Dairylane team for building a product that customers keep coming back for.
